NZ Breakers Assistant Coach Mike Fitchett returning to the Nelson Giants as Head Coach.
Mike Pero Nelson Giants are pleased to announce the appointment of NZ Breakers assistant coach Mike Fitchett as Head Coach of the Sal's NBL team the Mike Pero Nelson Giants. Coach Fitchett has been an assistant coach of the NZ Breakers since 2017 and is also an assistant coach with NZ Tall Blacks since 2017.
The NZ NBL season is played during the ANBL’s off season. Mike is looking forward to the opportunity to be Head Coach with the special challenges and experiences it brings, with a team he grew up watching and then playing for over nine seasons.
The General Manager of the Giants, Bill Dahlberg said ”We are very pleased Coach Mike Fitchett will join us as part of our growth strategy for our Mike Pero Nelson Giants plus the development of our players and coaches.”
The Nelson Giants is an iconic NZ NBL team and the only team to have played every year in the NZ NBL since its inaugural season in the early 1980s, with a long list of players and coaches starting their international careers there.
