Sharks get comfortable win over the Rangers

Hot shooting by Jarrad Weeks and Conor Morgan have helped guide the SIT Zerofees Sharks to a 116-104 win over the 2 Cheap Cars Supercity Rangers.

Morgan (28 points) converted on 6-for-10 three pointers and Weeks (23 points) hit 5-for-7 for the Sharks who furthered their position on the ladder with a 9-3 record.

The Rangers went toe to toe with the visitors in the first quarter, holding a 28-27 lead, but Southland were dominant offensively in the second quarter outscoring the home side 39-23.

After the break the Sharks would extend their lead to 24, but credit to the Rangers who did not give in, managing to close the deficit to as low as 11. Clay Wilson finished with 27 points and Marcel Jones grabbed a double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds.

The loss puts the Rangers to 2-11 which is on par with the last placed Jets, but do have a chance to move ahead when they host the Taylor Hawks (6-6) this Saturday.

Meanwhile, Southland will travel south tomorrow to face the Mike Pero Giants (10-2), and a win by more than three points would push them into second (Live Stream available at nznbl.basketball website, maoritelevision.com, tab.co.nz or at @NZNBL facebook page.)
