Tasman Suns Looking To Rise In 3X3

The new name might be confusing, but when it comes to the Schick 3X3 Cup the Tasman Suns will sport some very familiar NBL faces.

Embracing the Tasman region, the Nelson-based Suns sit alongside the Nelson Giants NBL programme and the announcement of their 3X3 roster reflects this alignment with Sam Dempster, Bronson Beri, Tom Ingham (pictured) and Tysxun Aiolupotea forming a settled quartet.

For Dempster it's a return to the court for his first national-level action since the Sal's NBL 2019 season given the inspirational team leader missed the 2020 Showdown due to work commitments. The same goes for Beri, who was also unable to make the six-week trek north to Auckland for the NBL's hub.

However, both Ingham and Aiolupotea amassed big minutes at the Showdown and will be eager to get back to business at the November 12-14 event to be played at ILT Stadium Southland.

Ingham put together an impressive campaign in Auckland, delivering per game averages of 14.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.3 treys.

The Suns could cause a few upsets with a team that looks well suited to the 3X3 format.
